ATHENS UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS

The Athens University of Economics and Business was founded in 1920 as a School of Commercial Studies. In 1926 it was renamed to the Higher School of Economics and Commercial Sciences (ASOEE) and in 1989 to the Athens University of Economics.

The Athens University of Economics and Business has historically established itself in the consciousness of the academic community, students and society as a leading Greek University in the fields it treats. At an international level, the University's unwavering strategic objective is its active participation in the global academic environment, the development of prestigious international partnerships and the overall strengthening of its international appeal and recognition through excellence in research and education. Faithful to these values, OPA participates in a multitude of international organizations and international rankings of Higher Education institutions in order to improve the services offered and strengthen the international recognition of the institution.

Departments that support the MBA

Business Administration Department

The Department of Business Administration (O.D.E.) is the Department that in 1985 systematically organized and operated, for the first time in Greece, postgraduate studies in Organization and Business Administration (M.B.A.) on modern bases. The Department of Organization and Business Administration of the Athens University of Economics and Business has supplied the Greek economy with the largest number of executives in the field of Organization and Business Administration. The purpose of the Department is the proper training of students in the modern scientific, research and applied requirements regarding the Science of Business Organization and Management. The specific Department has the highest recognition in the labor market of its kind, it is first in the preferences of prospective students among the corresponding Departments of the other Universities of the country and its graduates are accepted to continue their studies in internationally recognized Universities abroad.

Marketing and Communication Department

The Marketing and Communication department has been operating since 1992 and got its current name in 2002 while adapting its curriculum to the modern business environment. It is the first university department in Greece that deals with the science of Marketing and the only one that combines the subjects of Marketing and Communication with specialization in New Technologies, at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The department was created in response to the rapid development of these two sciences and the ever-increasing demands of businesses and organizations for specialized executives. In its 20 years of operation, it has demonstrated a rich scientific work with international recognition and has contributed significantly to the country's development effort in order to respond to the challenges of the United Europe and the 21st century.
